General Harrison’s Egg Nog

This classic recipe comes from the 1862 edition of Jerry Thomas’ Bartender’s Guide .

    Ingredients

  • 1/2 oz bourbon
  • 4 oz apple cider
  • 2 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ground cinnamon

    Preparation

  1. Place all the ingredients except the cider in a shaker filled with ice and shake to emulsify the egg .
  2. Strain into a tankard or large goblet
  3. top up with the cider
  4. and stir well .
  5. Garnish with a pinch of ground cinnamon .
